LUV’D UP! HOUSE CHOIR
This Mardi Gras, we want more fabulous vocalists to sashay into the spotlight with the
LUV’D UP! HOUSE CHOIR.
Performing LIVE at the Imperial Hotel
Sunday 18th of February - LUV’D UP! Fair Day
Sunday 25th of February - House of LUV
Special guest appearance Friday 1st of March - Club 2043
What’s this all about?
Beyond the fierce love for House Music, the LUV’D UP! House Choir is a glittering force dedicated to uniting the community, socialising in style, and werking those performance skills.
The choir will be performing vocal house, disco and dance-floor classics. Think CC Penitson, Kylie, Troy Sivan, Dua Lipa and Madison Avenue. The chosen songs will be blended as a megamix, so each performance is exciting and dynamic.
We hope to do this with a flashmob entrance - making our moves through the venue, til we mysteriously are all together taking over with song! Just like MAGIC!
Each event day will have a performance
Upstairs at Carlottas - the home of LUV’D UP! Sundays and the Pizza Bros.
Ground Floor at the iconic Priscilla’s Main Bar.
Two rehearsals will happen on-site at the Imperial
Thursday 8th - 6pm
Thursday 15th - 6pm
We highly encourage you to stick around for a meal, pizza or bevvy once the rehearsal is over.
Don't be fashionably late. Online auditions close on Monday 29th of January - so serve those vocals and snatch this opportunity!
Please read through the detailed FAQ below before you start on the audition form so you are aware of all the requirements.
I look forward to hearing your audio and seeing you over the Mardi Gras period. Much LUV! 💗

FAQ
Can I invite friends to the performance?
YES PLEASE! We highly encourage you to invite your friends to the Imperial to share in the LUV. We recommend booking a table to ensure they get a spot. You can book for either
LUV’D UP! Sundays on the Rooftop for the 3pm show - think late lunch or Sunday session.
Pricilla’s for RED HOT SUNDAYS on the Ground Floor for the 5pm show - dinner, drinks and prime time entertainment!
Can me and a mate audition?
Of course! The more the merrier! We just ask that even it you are showing something impressive - like singing the song in two part harmony - that you send in your own audition forms each.
What happens if I don’t get in?
While we would love to accept everyone who auditions, we have to be mindful that with such a short timeframe, it will be tight to turn around a quality show in a little over 3 weeks.
If you wish to be considered for future opportunities, you will be given the option to opt in for invites to auditions/community events.
Regardless - we still encourage you to come enjoy the Imperial and LUV’D UP! Sundays. There is nothing that is going to stop you from singing and dancing in your chair!
Will performances be filmed/photographed?
They absolutely will, but privacy is important to us. You can express to ‘opt out’ of being tagged in said media if it’s reposted for publicity reasons online by Lauren Neko/LUV’D UP! or Imperial/Universal Group. However, if you are not able to sign a release on such footage, you will not be able to participate in the event.
Do I have to attend both Sunday performance dates?
Yes. We need to make sure we are one LUV’D UP unit when we sing together. We understand that things come up. If you already have the calendar blocked out for one of these dates, but can attend the Friday night Club date, let us know on the form.
Do I have to attend both rehearsals?
Yep. Same reasons as above.
Do I have to attend the club event?
This one is optional, but let us know on your audition form if you’re interested!
Does it cost anything to audition or participate?
Nope! Free to audition and participate.
Do I get paid to perform?
Please note that the community choir performance is a labour of LUV. While the joy is abundant, it's an unpaid opportunity.
We believe in the magic of music and the power of community to create something special. We also hope it could be a stepping stone to building your confidence and performance skills.
What does my audition video entail?
It requires you to upload a video of you performing one song of your choice. We recommend you find a karaoke backing on YouTube or Spotify. If you’re feeling REALLY confident, acapella is also acceptable!
If you like, there are a few tracks you can use with provided backing here from the event repertoire shortlist.
We recommend singing at least one verse and chorus. We recommend singing something that shows what your most comfortable or ideal range is. It’s likely the range where you feel best, and can sing at a medium to loud volume.
Filming on an iPhone or smartphone is totally ok! We just need to HEAR you.
But please - feel free to dress as FABULOUS as you wish!
Do I have to have performance experience to audition?
While experience is preferred, it’s not mandatory. We mostly want to make sure you meet the basic requirements for singing in a group and are comfortable with vocal harmonies - i.e. sticking to your bit!
Is there homework?
A little. You will be expected to practice your song parts in your own time. All materials will be provided to you. I recommend throwing it on your phone and blasting it in the car.
Do I have to learn choreography?
Not really. We will do a tech rehearsal where we practice walk-ins, and where we will position ourselves to sing. We will be ‘grooving’ to the music - but this is not a Brittany Spears concert.
Is there a uniform?
LUV’D UP! Is all about expressing your individuality. We are particular fans of neon colour and anything that makes you feel a million bucks. However, if we feel like we want a uniform, we could order some iron-on decals to wear on t-shirts. We can chat about that as a group!
Do I have to identify as Queer/LGBTQIA+ to audition?
While this venue and event series is for and by the LGBTQIA+ community members, so long as you respect everyone, you are welcome. There is no pressure to be ‘out’ or look a certain way. Just be your fabulous self, and extend that warmth and LUV to others.
Is this an accessible venue?
Yes. There are lifts and ramps to access all performance areas of the venue. If you have any requirements, please let us know on your audition form.
Companion dogs and all well-behaved dogs are also welcome at the Imperial.
Is there parking?
There is limited parking in the area. We recommend public transport, uber, walking, and cycling where possible.
